BX PRO

FIRST CROSS-PLATFORM, VISUAL REUSE ENVIRONMENT
for JAVA AND C/C++

Delivers Best-of-Breed Tool Suite For Rapid Application Development (RAD)

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Integrated Computer Solutions (ICS), the leading supplier of visual development tools for professionals, has announced Builder Xcessory Pro (BX PRO(TM)), an integrated product suite combining the industry's best tools for visual object-oriented development. BX PRO is the first visual reuse environment to support both Java(TM) and C/C++ development. BX PRO addresses the current needs of C/C++ developers, while giving them the ability to migrate to Java-based development in the future without purchasing any additional tools.
Using BX PRO, enterprise developers can develop applications on UNIX workstations and deploy applications across multiple platforms. BX PRO enables cross-platform applications to be built in Java or with an optional software development kit, allows applications built in C/C++ to be deployed to WindowsTM -based systems.
"As the Java environment matures over the next several years, enterprise development will continue to be primarily based on C/C++," said Peter Winston, ICS President. "BX PRO is unique because it satisfies this existing development requirement, while at the same time supporting Java, the language that many companies have established as their strategic direction. BX PRO is a one-product solution that eliminates the need to purchase an additional visual development tool for Java and to retrain developers. This saves companies money today and in the future."
BX PRO, a WYSIWYG visual development environment, consists of Builder XcessoryTM, the industry's most advanced graphical user interface builder for Java and Motif; ViewKit ObjectPakTM, a flexible and mature C++ reuse framework that can be tailored to accommodate the specific needs of individual businesses and EnhancementPakTM, a library of 27 reusable components including business graphs and sophisticated user interface controls. More detailed product information is available at http://www.ics.com/products/BXPRO/.
Platforms supported by BX PRO include UNIX systems from Sun, HP, IBM, DEC and SGI. Java applications built with BX PRO can run on any system that supports the Java platform, including Windows 95, NT, and Apple MacOS. An optional software development kit allows applications built with C/C++ to be deployed on Windows 95 and Windows NT.
BX PRO is now shipping. A floating license with one year of support for BX PRO is $6,495 in North America. Prices vary elsewhere in the world depending on currency fluctuations and local conditions. The optional Windows cross- platform toolkit shipped in December 1996.
